What is matter?
Matter is defined as anything that has mass, takes up space, and is commonly found or experienced.
What is kinetic energy?
Kinetic energy is the energy due to the motion of an object or particle. The faster an object moves, the greater its kinetic energy. The greater the mass of an object, the greater its kinetic energy.
What is temperature?
Temperature is a measure of the average kinetic energy of the particles of a substance. A higher temperature is associated with greater kinetic energy of the particles of a substance.
What is the kinetic molecular theory?
The kinetic molecular theory provides an explanation of the motion and behavior of particles in the solid, liquid, and gas states of matter. Particles in the solid phase have the least motion, while gas phase particles have the greatest motion. Liquid phase particles have motion in between the other two states of matter.
What is heat?
Heat is defined as the transfer of energy from one object or particle to another due to a difference in temperature of the two objects. Heat energy always moves from an object with a higher temperature to an object with a lower temperature.
