### Doing the science

1. A number of factors can affect the motion of moving object. Mass is a measure of the amount of matter in an object. Does the mass of an object affect its distance traveled when pushed?
2. Start the Push-A-Cart Simulation.
3. Click on the "Push Cart" button.
4. Note and record the distance traveled by the cart
5. Click the "Reset Cart" button to return it to the start position.
6. Click on one brick to add it to the cart. Record the new mass of the cart and brick. Do not change the force value.
7. Click on the "Push Cart" button.
8. Note and record the distance traveled by the cart.
9. Click the "Reset Cart" button to return it to the start position.
10. Repeat steps 6 – 8 for a total of 4 trials.

1. Make a graph of the total mass on the cart versus the distance the cart moved during each test. What generalization can you make about how mass and distance traveled are related?
